Working as an interpreter, I have also returned to the football world to attend press conferences for matches in the Europa League and the Champions League and for the presentation of new players.

The Flying Dutch is the nickname my Italian friends gave me obviously because I am Dutch and then because I am one who likes to work hard. From a child up to 21 years I have always played football hoping to become a professional footballer. I always told my parents that when I was older they would have to come and see me in Italy. I dreamed of playing for Milan where at that time the three rossoneri tulips Gullit, van Basten and Rijkaard were playing. I played many years in the youth sector of FC Den Bosch but then I realized that I would not be a Francesco Totti and I chose to study and play at lower levels. There are several Dutch in Italy, many have come after retirement; I, on the other hand, came without any work experience directly after my university degree in the Netherlands. And I came for love. By now I feel like a Roman even though I've only been here for 12 years. I also write about my experiences in Rome and the differences between Holland and Italy. I have been working for years in tourism and I like helping and guiding tourists to make their vacation in the unforgettable Eternal City. I too have been a tourist for years and until today I find wonderful things in Rome that I had never seen before.
