I´m 39 years old, British/ Brazilian citizen. and have lived in Rio de Janeiro for a decade, mixed with Buenos Aires. My specialization is assisting foreign groups, providing support and attending business meetings to make sure all parties understand each other. I studied Spanish and French for Business at Oxford Brookes University.

My introduction to the field of interpreting for foreign delegations began as recently as the Olympic Games. I realised that, after a decade in Rio, I am able to provide the vital link between foreigners and local companies. It´s not just the language barrier, but the different way things work in Brazil and how to travel around this city sensibly and safely. ~~~~ During the games here I helped an international IT firm with their telecommunications needs. It took months of preparation, during which I was their representative here on the ground. ~~~~ SInce then I have also assisted a Brazilian doctor to meet with health executives from the US. He is setting up a network of small day surgeries in Rio and São Paulo. ~~~~ For 7 years now i´ve been giving English classes in a range of local companies, so i´ve had inside experience with how they function. Examples are Petrobras, Odebrecht, Statoil, the National Development Bank (BNDES), Banco do Brasil, BMA law firm, the National Technology Institute and, among others, Modec Oil and Gas.~~~~ I am married to a Brazilian and a permanent resident, so I feel that I could be described as a ´local foreigner´.~~~~ My wish is to assist visiting missions with everything from transport, accommodation, negotiations, translations, bureaucracy and, after it all, perhaps some leisure as well. ~~~~ FInally, my competitive edge in the maritime and offshore oil and gas industries is that I am a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Coastal. This interest in the sea and its laws has helped me to relate to other Seafarers in this country, and i´ve been involved in a bit of small yacht delivery. ~~~~ Very recently I have begun teaching in Carbone Maritime law firm on Av.
