My education consists of a Bachelor or Arts in English Language Teaching; I learned mostly about teaching a language, linguistics, and psychology. I have been working for the past 8 months for the company Language Line Solutions, where I proved, after taking a few tests, that I was capable of being a knowledgeable medical interpreter.
I studied to become an English Language Teacher at the University of Sonora, where our knowledge of the English language, as well as that of Spanish, and also of psychology, linguistics, planning, grading and assessing where constantly reinforced and put to the test. The subjects I was most knowledgeable and skilled in were English, Spanish, linguistics, as well as culture and language and sociolinguistics. Afterwards, I started working at Language Line Solutions, a US based interpretation company, which employs individuals all over the world for over the phone interpretation. We completed several tests during the course of one month, through which our note taking, listening and interpreting skills improved and were constantly put to the test. The interpreted calls between sales reps and costumers, between social workers and individuals seeking assistance, and 911 representatives and citizens. I began working on September last year, and 4 months later, I took another test to become a medical interpreter, an exciting new challenge. We were trained for the test, and on December 30 I received my certificate as a medical interpreter, which has been my job for the last 3 months. I am quite excited to look for a similar interpreter, so that I can keep on utilizing my skills and knowledge to help people that speak different languages.
