«Then overall impression is very negative. First because contrary to what she states on this website, she lacks adequate professional language skills and second, she clearly lacks the necessary work ethics. In our experience with her, she demonstrated very weak English language skills and very limited German language skills (certainly well below the necessary for professional instant translation). However, she agreed to take upon the task of doing the role of an interpreter for an official marriage application for an English-speaking couple at the Bundesstadt Bonn - Standesamt. Below is a sample of how she failed to uphold minimum professional and ethical standards. 1. To a large degree she only partially translated what was necessary from German to English. Often what she translated was full of mistakes in English impeding clear understanding and not quite accurate. Many times what she translated was contested even by the German official in charge of our application. This contributed to a lot of confusion and frustration. 2. Although she was informed beforehand of the task and the responsibility entailed in such a task, she seemed to take it very lightly. She had no idea about the procedure. So she neither brought her official translation certificates nor her passport. So, she risked having our application annulled due to her failure to show her valid official documents. At the very end of the marriage appointment, she confessed that she possess no official certificates although on this website she states that she possess 5 certificates and 4 diplomas! 3. This professional and ethical misconduct resulted in making us pay twice for her bad service. Once at the Bundesstadt Bonn - Standesamt (for failure to show her official certificates) and once again for her fees for a very poorly done job and embarrassment. 4. We were asked by the Bundesstadt Bonn - Standesamt to file a report on her to not encourage such professional and ethical misconduct. We therefore highly urge the administrators of this website to follow up with her on this case.
